Second Buon Me Thuot coffee festival to open in December

The 2nd Buon Me Thuot Coffee Festival will be held in Buon Me Thuot town, Dak Lak Central Highlands province from December 10-14.

The festival, jointly organised by the Dak Lak provincial People’s Committee, Vietnam Coffee Corporation, and the Vietnam Coffee – Cocoa Association, aims to advertise the trademark of Buon Me Thuot coffee to the world.

According to Chairman of Dak Lak People’s Committee Lu Ngoc Cu, this year’s festival is expected to attract around 120 domestic and foreign businesses with over 400 stands, displaying coffee products and by-products for coffee trees and products made by coffee aromatic spices.

A coffee culinary area will be held the town’s square with around 10 to 20 coffee shops designed by traditional village materials such as bamboo to introduce visitors special coffee products imbued with the Central Highlands’ cultural identity and provide free samples

The festival also includes competition on art photography on coffee image, competition on farmers’ talents, and seminars on investment, production, processing and development of coffee in the new period.

Alongside many activities aimed at popularising the image of Buon Me Thuot coffee, various art programmes will also take place during the festival such as art performances, lion dance, elephant parade on street, gongs exchange and buffalo stabbing festival.

Particularly, on the occasion, a trading centre for Buon Me Thuot is expected to open on December 12. This will be the first agricultural product trading centre in Vietnam built on the national scale.

The first Buon Me Thuot Coffee Festival was held in 2005 and attracted 36 businesses.
